The Indian Federation of University Women's Association (IFUWA)", is the National Association and has 14 University Women's Association affiliates from – Bangalore, Chidambaram, Cochin, Coonoor,  Dehradhun, Delhi, Guwahati, Kolkata, Madras, Mumbai, Nagpur, Thiruvananthapuram, Vadodara and Pune.

It is affiliated to the International Federation of University Women (IFUW), Geneva.

The Indian Federation of University Women's association (IFUWA) was founded on 24 July, 1920 and got affiliated to the IFUW in 1921. In 1920 it was called Federation of University Women in India. Two organizations of university women were already in existence. The Association of British University Women in India, founded in 1913, with branches in Bombay, Calcutta and Lahore.

In 1952-53, the Federation became a registered body. In 1961 -62, the memorandum constitution and bye-laws of the Federation were amended providing for a strictly federal structure and the name was changed to Indian Federation of University Women's Association with branches being named as Associations with membership status.

All member associations of IFUWA are named as " University Women's Association of " , except Mumbai which has retained its original name --"Women Graduate's Union." IFUWA acts as a liaison between UWAs and IFUW. A member of UWA must be a member of IFUW.
